Literacy Program

Early reading skills for ages 4-8

What is the Literacy Program?

The Literacy Program is a specially designed learning experience for young children (ages 4-8) who are learning to read. It uses audio, visuals, and interactive games to teach foundational reading skills without requiring the child to read instructions.

Note: The Literacy Program is included only in the Family plan. It is designed specifically for young learners and differs from the main Cocovox experience.

Key Features

Icon-Based Navigation

Children navigate using pictures and icons instead of text. Tap the book to start a lesson, the star to see achievements, or the owl to get help.

Audio Instructions

All instructions are spoken aloud. Children hear what to do rather than needing to read it. Characters guide them through each activity.

Daily Lessons

Short, focused lessons (5-10 minutes) designed for young attention spans:

  • Letter Recognition - Learn uppercase and lowercase letters
  • Phonics - Connect letters to sounds
  • Sight Words - Memorize common words
  • Blending - Combine sounds to form words
  • Sentences - Read simple sentences
  • Stories - Interactive read-along stories

Getting Started

The Skill Tree

Progress is visualized as a skill tree. As children complete lessons, they unlock new branches and watch their tree grow. This makes progress visible and exciting.

Gamification

Learning is fun with:

  • XP Points - Earn experience for completing activities
  • Daily Streaks - Keep the streak alive by learning each day
  • Badges - Collect achievements for milestones
  • Celebrations - Fun animations when completing lessons
  • Level Up - Advance through reading levels
Parent Tip: Celebrate your child's achievements! Ask them to show you their badges and explain what they learned.
