Where to turn talking, AI tutoring and usage analytics on or off for your child

Overview

Each child has one page of switches that Cocovox follows: Privacy & Controls. This article shows how to get there and what each switch does.

Getting to Privacy & Controls

Find your child's card. Its Microphone and voice recordings line says whether they can talk to Coco out loud. Choose Change to go straight to that switch.

For all of your child's switches, choose View Progress on their card, then Privacy & Controls.

The switches

AI tutoring and lessons

Lets Cocovox send your child's work to the AI that powers chat, tutoring, reading, math and voice practice. With it off, Coco can't answer your child, typed or out loud.

Microphone and voice recordings

Lets your child talk to Coco out loud. ElevenLabs, our speech provider, turns their voice into text; we keep the text, and our copy of the audio is deleted within three hours. With it off, your child can still type to Coco.

Tip: If your child practices on your device, we ask about talking out loud when you start their practice, so you can turn it on right there.

Usage analytics

Anonymous data about how the app is used, to help us improve it.

Pause all access

At the bottom of Privacy & Controls, Revoke parental consent pauses your child's access. It signs them out and stops AI processing straight away. Their learning records are kept, and you can turn access back on from the same page.

Download or delete your child's data

Privacy & Controls also has Download and Delete buttons for your child's data and account. A deletion is scheduled, not instant: the page shows the date, and if you asked for it, you can keep the account until then.

Time limits

There's no time limit for you to set. Cocovox has a daily practice limit that resets each day. If your child reaches it, Coco stops for now, and your Family Dashboard says so.

Purchases

Note: Children's accounts on the Family plan cannot make purchases directly. All billing is managed through the parent account.
