Why I Built This

A friend of mine is a teacher. One of her students — an 11th grader — couldn't read at all. Not struggling. Not behind. Couldn't read.

That stopped me cold. I'm an engineer with a toddler entering the same system that failed that kid for eleven years. How many more students are falling through the cracks right now, in every classroom, in every district?

That's millions of kids whose curiosity is being crushed because the system can't meet them where they are. I built Cocovox because every one of those kids deserves a patient, tireless tutor who adapts to them — their pace, their reading level, their voice.

But here's what I kept coming back to: it's never just the kid. Behind every struggling reader is a parent who doesn't know what to do, a teacher stretched across thirty other students, a speech therapist who sees them once a week. The system doesn't just fail learners — it leaves their whole village in the dark.

That's why Cocovox isn't just a learning tool. It's the connective tissue between everyone who cares about a learner.

Who's Behind This

Corey Preston

I spent years at Cisco shaping AI strategy and building products used by millions. I hold a US patent for an AI content creation pipeline — that became the seed of what Cocovox does today. I wrote a book about what's coming (Welcome to Tomorrow), and then I decided to stop writing about the future and start building it.

When I'm not working on Cocovox, I'm hiking the trails of Marin County with my kid, reading whatever catches my curiosity, or thinking about how technology can serve the people who need it most — not just the people who can pay the most for it.
