Cocovox is designed with families in mind — whether you homeschool, supplement after school, or want structured learning during breaks. This guide will help you set up your account, add your children, and ensure they have a safe, productive learning experience.
Step 1: Create Your Account
Go to cocovox.ai/auth and click "Sign Up"
Enter your email and create a password, or sign up with Google/Microsoft
Verify your email address by clicking the link we send you
Step 2: Choose Your Plan
For families, we recommend the Family Plan ($39.99/month) which includes:
- Up to 4 family members with individual profiles
- Full Literacy Program for early readers (ages 4-8)
- Parent Dashboard to monitor all children's progress
- All Pro features for each family member
Step 3: Add Your Children
Go to Settings → Family → Add Child
Enter your child's name, birth year, and create their profile
Set their reading level and learning preferences
Review and enable parental controls as needed
Understanding COPPA Compliance
For children under 13, we require parental consent under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- You'll verify your identity as the parent/guardian
- You control what data is collected and how it's used
- Social features are disabled by default for children
- You can delete your child's data at any time
Monitoring Progress
The Parent Dashboard shows you:
- Activity Feed - What your child worked on today
- Topic Mastery - Skills they've learned and growth opportunities
- Time Spent - How long they've been learning
- Streaks - Consecutive days of learning
- Achievements - Badges and milestones earned
Weekly Progress Emails
Receive email updates every Sunday with a summary of each child's learning: time spent, exercises completed, topics mastered, and areas needing attention. Configure your preferred delivery time in Email Preferences.
Setting Usage Limits
You can set daily or weekly limits on:
- Total screen time
- Time per subject or feature
- When learning is available (e.g., not after bedtime)
For Younger Learners (Ages 4-8)
Our Literacy Program is designed specifically for early readers:
- Icon-based navigation (no reading required)
- Audio instructions and feedback
- Letter recognition, phonics, and sight words
- Daily goals with XP rewards
- Celebration animations for achievements
Voice Mode for Home Practice
Voice Mode lets your child practice hands-free using the VoiceBar. This is especially useful for at-home study sessions where your child can speak naturally with the AI Tutor without needing to type.
- Conversation Starters - Pre-made prompts help your child begin a voice session on age-appropriate topics
- Voice Transcript - Review what your child discussed in each voice session
- Voice Skill Map - Track your child's verbal communication progress over time
Achievements and Celebrations
Cocovox includes a built-in achievement and celebration system designed to keep your child motivated and excited about learning:
- Achievement Badges - Earned for milestones like completing lessons, mastering topics, and maintaining streaks
- Celebration Animations - Fun visual celebrations play when your child reaches a milestone
- Profile Display - Badges are displayed on your child's profile, building a sense of accomplishment
Streak Badges and Motivation
The streak system encourages daily practice by tracking consecutive days of learning activity. As your child builds their streak, they earn progressively larger streak badges:
- 3-day, 7-day, 14-day, and 30-day streak badges
- Streak badges are visible in the chat interface and on the profile
- Missing a day resets the streak, but streak freezes can be configured to prevent accidental resets
- Bonus XP is awarded for maintaining longer streaks
You can monitor your child's streak status and achievement history from the Parent Dashboard.
