Getting Started for SLPs

Clinical speech-language pathology tools

Overview

Cocovox provides a clinical toolset designed specifically for speech-language pathologists. From caseload management to automated IEP goal tracking, the platform supports your clinical workflow with AI-assisted therapy sessions, structured data collection, and exportable progress reports. This guide walks you through setup, key features, and best practices for integrating Cocovox into your practice.

Setting Up Your Caseload

Begin by adding your clients and configuring their individual profiles. Each client profile stores clinical targets, dialect preferences, session history, and IEP goals in one place.

1

Navigate to your dashboard and select "Add Client"

2

Enter the client's name, age, and relevant diagnostic information

3

Configure their phoneme targets, language structures, and therapy goals

4

Set dialect and language background preferences for accurate assessment

Clinical Sessions

Run AI-assisted therapy sessions with real-time data collection. During a session, Cocovox tracks responses, accuracy rates, and prompt levels automatically. You can focus on the client while the platform handles documentation.

  • Real-time tracking - Accuracy, prompt levels, and response times recorded automatically
  • Session notes - Add clinical observations during or after the session
  • Audio recording - Capture session audio for later review (with consent)
  • Structured activities - Use built-in exercises or create custom tasks

Probe Targets

Configure phoneme targets across word positions (initial, medial, final) and at multiple complexity levels (isolation, syllable, word, phrase, sentence, conversation). The system generates probe stimuli and tracks performance over time.

  • Select target phonemes from the phoneme inventory
  • Choose word positions and complexity levels
  • Set mastery criteria (e.g., 80% accuracy across 3 consecutive sessions)
  • The system auto-generates appropriate stimuli for each target

IEP Goal Tracking

The IEP bridge automatically maps exercise performance to clinical support levels. As clients complete exercises and therapy activities, their progress is recorded against their IEP goals without manual data entry.

Time saver: The IEP bridge automatically maps exercise performance to clinical support levels. Every Deep Dive exercise, probe session, and therapy activity feeds directly into your IEP goal tracking.
1

Enter IEP goals for each client in their profile

2

Link goals to specific phoneme targets or language structures

3

View automated progress charts and trend data on the client dashboard

Dialect-Aware Practice

Configure each client's dialect and language background to ensure accurate assessment. The system adjusts phoneme targets, scoring criteria, and feedback to account for dialect variations, reducing false positives in error identification.

  • Support for major English dialects (AAE, Southern, Appalachian, etc.)
  • Bilingual considerations for dual-language learners
  • Dialect-informed scoring that distinguishes difference from disorder

Clinical Timeline

The clinical timeline provides a chronological view of all data points for a given client. See session summaries, probe results, exercise completions, IEP goal progress, and clinical notes in a single scrollable view. Filter by date range, activity type, or target area.

Reports and Export

Generate professional reports for IEP meetings, progress reviews, and documentation. Reports include session summaries, probe data with accuracy trends, goal progress charts, and clinical recommendations.

  • Session Summary - Per-session report with targets, accuracy, and notes
  • Progress Report - Multi-session trend analysis for IEP review periods
  • Probe Data Export - Raw data in CSV format for external analysis
  • Goal Progress Chart - Visual representation of goal attainment over time

Deep Dive for Therapy

Use Deep Dive interactive exercises as structured therapy activities. Exercises adapt difficulty based on EMA mastery scores, providing appropriately challenging material for each client. Fill-in-the-blank and step-by-step problem formats work well for targeting specific language structures in a controlled context.

Clinical workflow: Assign Deep Dive exercises targeting specific language structures, then review results in the clinical timeline. Exercise performance automatically feeds into IEP goal tracking.
