Getting Started: Homeschool Families

Use Cocovox as your AI-powered homeschool companion — no classroom required

Why Cocovox for Homeschool?

Cocovox works without a school, a classroom, or an IT department. Each child gets a personalized learning experience that adapts to their reading level, pace, and interests — and you get a Parent Dashboard to see exactly what they're working on.

  • No class setup required — each child learns independently from their own profile
  • 4 reading levels — content adapts from early literacy (ages 4-8) through high school
  • AI lessons on any topic — your child asks a question, Cocovox builds a lesson around it
  • Weekly progress emails — see what each child studied, time spent, and topics mastered
  • Speech and language practice — voice tools designed for at-home practice alongside professional therapy

Step 1: Create Your Family Account

1

Go to cocovox.ai/auth and click "Sign Up"

2

Choose "Parent or Family Member" when asked who you are

3

Select the Family Plan ($39.99/month) — includes up to 4 learners with individual profiles. The 7-day free trial requires no credit card.

Step 2: Add Your Children

1

Go to Settings → Family → Add Child

2

Enter their name, birth year, and set their reading level

3

Each child gets their own login, profile, and personalized learning path

You don't need to create a "class." Classes are for teachers managing multiple students in a school setting. Homeschool families use the Family Plan with individual child profiles instead — it's simpler and designed for your workflow.

Step 3: Start Learning

Here's what your child can do from day one:

  • Ask the AI Tutor — type or speak any question. The tutor explains at their reading level.
  • Deep Dive Lessons — AI-generated interactive lessons on any K-12 subject with quizzes and exercises.
  • Flashcards — spaced-repetition flashcards that adapt based on what they get right and wrong.
  • Voice Practice — hands-free learning using the VoiceBar. Great for younger kids who find typing difficult.
  • Literacy Program (ages 4-8) — icon-based navigation, phonics, letter recognition, and sight words with daily XP goals.

Tracking Progress

The Parent Dashboard (parent-portal) gives you:

  • Daily activity feed — what each child worked on today
  • Topic mastery — skills learned and areas needing attention
  • Time tracking — how long each child spent learning
  • Streaks — consecutive days of learning (great for building habits)
  • Achievements — badges and milestones earned

Weekly Progress Emails

Every Sunday, you receive an email for each child summarizing their week: time spent, exercises completed, topics mastered, and areas that may need your attention. Configure delivery time in Email Preferences.

For Learners with Speech or Language Needs

Cocovox includes tools designed with speech-language pathologist input for at-home practice:

  • Voice practice with real-time feedback
  • Articulation tracking for specific sounds
  • IEP goal progress — if your child has IEP goals, Cocovox can track practice toward them
  • AAC keyboard — for non-verbal or minimally verbal learners, with 100+ natural voices
Note: These tools are designed for practice alongside professional therapy, not as a replacement for clinical services from a licensed SLP.

Setting Boundaries

Parental controls let you manage each child's experience:

  • Daily and weekly time limits
  • Schedule when learning is available (e.g., not after bedtime)
  • Content filtering for age-appropriateness
  • Social features disabled by default for children under 13
