Track student progress and identify who needs help

Overview

Student Insights gives you real-time visibility into how your students are performing. Identify struggling students early, recognize high achievers, and understand which topics need more class time.

Accessing Insights

Navigate to Teach → [Class Name] → Insights to view your class dashboard.

Class Overview

The main dashboard shows:

  • Class Average - Overall performance across all assignments
  • Completion Rate - Percentage of assignments completed on time
  • Active Students - Who's been learning this week
  • Trending Topics - What students are studying most

Individual Student View

Click on any student to see their detailed profile:

  • Assignment history and grades
  • Topic mastery levels
  • Activity timeline
  • Streak and engagement metrics
  • Help requests

Mastery Tracking

See how students are progressing through learning objectives:

  • Not Started - Topic hasn't been covered yet
  • Developing - Initial exposure, building understanding
  • Approaching - Making progress but gaps remain
  • Proficient - Solid understanding demonstrated
  • Mastered - Consistent excellence on the topic
Tip: Use mastery data to differentiate instruction. Pair struggling students with those who have mastered the topic, or create targeted review activities for specific groups.

Struggling Student Alerts

Cocovox automatically flags students who may need help:

  • Low Scores - Below 60% on recent assignments
  • Declining Performance - Grades dropping over time
  • Missing Work - Incomplete assignments past due date
  • Inactive - No activity for 7+ days
  • Help Requests - Pending requests for teacher help

Responding to Alerts

From the alert, you can:

  • Send a message to the student
  • Extend assignment deadlines
  • Assign additional practice materials
  • Schedule a one-on-one session

Topic Analysis

See class-wide performance by topic:

  • Which concepts the class has mastered
  • Topics with the most struggle
  • Common misconceptions based on wrong answers
  • Suggested topics to review

Engagement Metrics

Track student engagement beyond grades:

  • Active Days - How often students log in
  • Time on Task - Average time spent on assignments
  • Self-Study - Extra practice beyond assigned work

Each report includes:

  • Class Engagement - Active students, total time, and trends
  • Per-Student Summary - Table with time, quiz scores, and streaks
  • Topic Performance - Strongest and weakest areas for the class

One-click unsubscribe is available in every email, or manage your preferences anytime in settings.

Privacy and Data

  • Student data is only visible to their teachers
  • Parents can view their own child's data in the parent portal
  • Data is retained according to your school's policies
  • You can export or delete student data upon request
